Born on July 28, 1983, as Venkatesh Lord Kasturi Raja, Dhanush is an Indian producer, writer, actor, dancer, lyricist, playback singer, and director who has worked in Tamil cinema. Dhanush has won numerous awards like Filmfare Award, Victory Award, Edison Award, National Film Award, etc. He was highly praised for his song“Why this kolhaveri kolhaveri Di”.
Dhanush Family, Education, and Caste
Dhanush was born in Tamil Nadu. Dhanush’s father, Kasturi Raja, is a well-known director and producer in Tamil Nadu and his mother Vijayalakshmi is a housemaid. He is survived by his elder brother Selvaraghavan, a well-known film director, and two sisters K. Bimala Gita, Kartika Devi. He belongs to the Nike community or Scheduled Castes. Dhanush studied at Thai Satya Matriculation High School, Chennai. Dhanush graduated with a BCA (Correspondence) degree from Madurai Kamaraj University in Tamil Nadu.

Dhanush married Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya on November 16, 2004. She then had two sons named Yatra, born in 2006, and Linga born in 2010. Aishwarya is two years older than her husband Dhanush. He is a director and singer by profession.
Acting career
Dhanush made his acting debut as Mahesh in the 2002 Tamil film Thulluvadho Ilamai. The movie was directed by his father Kasturi Raja. She then starred in the 2003 Tamil film Kadhal Kondein, directed by her brother Selvaraghvan. In 2004, he reappeared in flop movies like ‘Pudhukottailirandhu Saravanan’, ‘Sullan’ and ‘Desires’. He then acted in Tamil films like Devathaiyai Kanden (2005), Adhu Oru Kana Kalam (2005), Yaaradi Nee Mohini’(2008), and Padikkadawan (2009) which were box office hits, and Her performing career provides a kick start.
Dhanush starred in the Tamil movie Aadukalam, (2011) as a rooster fighting jockey for which he received his first nationwide award. He gained a lot of fame after this movie and critics started recognizing him as one of the best South Indian actors. He also acted in 3 films directed by his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth in 2012. The song Why this Kolaveri Di sang by him gained a lot of fame in this film. She then starred in the 2013 film, Maryan.

Dhanush’s first film in 2014 was Velaiyilla Pattathari, which was his 25th film and directed by Velraj. It was one of the highest-grossing Tamil films. He then starred in the Hindi movie Shamitabh (2015) with legendary Indian actors Amitabh Bachchan and Akshara Hasan who made his debut in the film as an actor.
His film Vadachennai and Maari 2, in the appendix to Maari, was released in 2018. Vada Chennai was highly acclaimed and was released. . In 2021, he rejoiced. He is also starring in Rai’s film Atarangi Re – with Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan. Dhanush’s upcoming action thriller black comedy gangster movie ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ is written and directed by Kartik Subbaraj.
